Silver Bay Seafoods Contributes $55,000 to Expand APICDA’s School Grant Program Content
False Pass, AK – August 31, 2026 – Silver Bay Seafoods has contributed $55,000 to the Aleutian Pribilof Island Community Development Association’s (APICDA) School Grant Program. The funding will increase support available to participating schools for the 2026/2027 school year. The purpose of the grant is to expand students’ knowledge of marine ecosystems and fisheries science, strengthen their understanding of environmental stewardship, and provide opportunities to explore careers in the fishing industry.
APICDA’s long-standing School Grant Program complements its wide array of programs to advance economic and workforce development efforts in the Aleutian Pribilof region. Recent projects supported by the school grant funding have included underwater ROV exploration, water sampling and plankton monitoring, in-school programs led by visiting scientists and fisheries educators, and educational trips throughout Alaska.
With Silver Bay Seafoods’ contribution, APICDA will increase School Grant awards to $16,000 for school programs in Akutan, Atka, False Pass, Nikolski, St. George and Unalaska. The additional funding will allow the program to expand to King Cove and Sand Point.

By partnering with APICDA’s established program, Silver Bay is helping provide more students across the Aleutian Pribilof region with hands-on learning experiences and opportunities to better understand the fisheries and marine resources that shape their communities.
